Deborah Campbell

I haven’t always wanted to be a writer, although I vividly remember the pride of having my badly illustrated book of stapled pages displayed on the classroom wall. I was six and the story of princesses and castles followed a much-loved school trip to Windsor Castle to see the Queen Mother.

There were no more stories after that. I don’t remember why. Even though I loved reading books, school story-writing homework filled me with dread; I was convinced I had no imagination, let alone the ability to write. That changed when I was 19 and encouraged to write by a friend. Those early dabblings no longer exist, but the love of writing has stayed with me and I finally took the plunge to complete an MA in Creative Writing at the University of Bristol in 2021.

I now juggle writing with my alternative therapy practice and working part-time at a PR agency as well as family time, especially time with our seven grandchildren. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with other writers, helping them to edit their manuscripts for submission, including Robert Parsons, 'A Knock at the Door'.
